Joseph A. Pinto

barflypoet & author of dark fiction

It’s time for the ‘What Pains You Project.’ I listen privately to your pain and write an anonymous poem dedicated to you…

‘never was she appreciated’

‘cross her pallor

she lets drop the veil

concealing the immolation

and epitaphs her lungs

have coughed up.

she loves flowers

not bouquets

she loves dying

not artificial inhalations

of survival.

she loves the raven’s caw

atop her tombstone today

not her widow’s song

for tomorrow.
