It’s time for the ‘What Pains You Project.’ I listen privately to your pain and write an anonymous poem dedicated to you…
‘part of her wishes’
a handful of caterpillars
snug in the palm
she doesn’t clench her fist
until deep in the night
alone—wishing she was
on a day they could call
she has nothing.
no days. no cloudless skies.
she holds open her palm
wishing moon for sun
wishing he for him
closing her eyes she exhales
lost in metamorphosis.
a poem for an anonymous reader and their pain…
