enjoy an excerpt from my poetry collection ‘A Distilled Spirit’

‘the seat beside me’

sporting a black eye,

he tells me:

women are like booze

but you can’t get punched in the face

for sucking on the neck of a bourbon;

his voice slurs with decades of bad decisions;

his eyes swim like

confused fish in a dirty bowl.

i watch him drink

until those fish go belly-up

then order myself another scotch.

    This is perfect. I think I was sitting on the other side of this guy.

      I’ve been on the other side of that seat many times… lol
