Joseph A. Pinto

barflypoet & author of dark fiction

It’s time again for the ‘What Pains You Project.’ I listen privately to your pain and write an anonymous poem dedicated to you…

‘but the kids did see’

she played dress up

the kids wouldn’t see

bedroom door locked

(marriage wide open)

danced like a princess

glass slippers cracked

the kingdom was cracked

wine splashed her gown

still she twirled

bedroom door locked

(eyes wide shut)

fairy tale splendid

though merlot heavy-tongued

heart slurred with self-loathing.
