you can suffer, or you can hurt
bow before your king of pain
kneel at the feet of misery
believed once you did in retribution
understood once the meaning of comeuppance
no longer, i say, no more—
kiss the hand, pledge allegiance to woe
wallow in my expanse of angst;
an unabashed scourging of the soul.
