Joseph A. Pinto

barflypoet & author of dark fiction

From my book ‘A Distilled Spirit

‘look at you’

look at you;
so smug in a chiseled suit
dagger tie
you speak of perry ellis
in a raised hush
as if this tone will cast
your nobility across the walls
bask in the admiration of
commoners
behind your dark rimmed
frames;
little know you that to the ferryman
i have already paid my dues;
you can shed your designer fabrics
but i remain clad always—
bone and sweat and fire.
